than red beets. Solid green tops are long and attractive,
and quickly shade out weeds.

Planting Tips: The beet is a hardy biennial that can
tolerate light frosts. Grows best at cooler temperatures
and in light, loamy soils with good moisture and a pH
above 6.0. Direct seed as soon as soil can be worked.
Sow every three weeks through late summer.
